First lighting of the wood stove!

Tonight we lit the wood stove for the first time, with the temp going to dip to 27 it was just lovely.

We had to clean the chimney first, and to do that the easy way we brought up the forklift - so there was a carnival ride of sorts going on around here.

What happened to winter?

Strange weather this year, today we reached 90 degree's, last year this time we had snow.

2009 the weekend of the 9th - 11th of October brought us 10 inches of snow.  Today, heat and a little bit of rain/thunderstorm in the evening.

HAY

We purchased our final load of hay, and Mike and Trenton went to pick it all up today.

Trenton got to drive the truck through the field while Mike and two friends helped pick up the bales.

We now have just under 200 small square bales.  Should last us a year!

Knitting 2011 calendar

My 2011 knitting a day calendar arrived and I could not wait to open it, there are some cute patterns there that I'll be sure to try.

Knitting: 2011 Day-to-Day Calendar

Mocha

I just made the most delicious White chocolate mocha.

I purchased Torani Original Mocha Sauce, White Chocolate, 16.5-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6)  and the Hamilton Beach 40729 Espresso/Cappuccino Maker with Pod Holder

I have Amazon prime membership so shipping is super fast.  It arrived this afternoon and I watched the short 10 minute DVD that came with the Espresso maker, and was on my way - took me a few minutes to clean all the parts before getting started.  I don't have a decent shot glass or a frothing pitcher yet, so just used a pyrex jug.

Added a couple of squirts of the sauce to a coffee cup - brewed a shot of espresso, and added that to the cup - then I steamed and foamed the milk and added that on top.

SO YUMMY.

I had left over milk, so I added a dash of the syrup/sauce and gave it to my son - he loved it!

Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday to my son, who turns 11 today.

He received a brand new Mongoose bike from us, as well as a  DSL Nerf Armor Dark Blue/White

He did receive a Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G, 6" Display, White - 2nd Generation from us a while ago - and he loves it, I've read a few books on it myself.  The amount of space saved is my main motivation for having the kindle.  No more piles of books all over.
I do however still buy recipe books or knitting pattern books etc..

Weekend Fencing..

We spent this past weekend putting up a new fence, electric. I've put it off for so long, being a little nervous about Rosie's reaction to it.

Rosie loves it, and her goat friend Molly seems to be fine with it as well - they're thrilled to have all that extra grass (and weeds) and have spent the last few days "mowing".

I have not seen Rosie touch the wire, she seems to just know that its not something she wants to get to close to. Molly did sniff it once, it zapped her on the nose, not too bad, but she knows not to go near it now and has avoiding contacting it again.

Cheese - Feta

I decided earlier in the summer to try my hand at making cheese. I followed the recipe on the FiasCo farm website.
